Queen of All Nigerian Virgins: Celebration in Lagos as Student Emerges ‘Miss Virginity’ 2017

Queen of All Nigerian Virgins: Celebration in Lagos as Student Emerges ‘Miss Virginity’ 2017

In a drab event inside the headquarters of Surulere local government area of Lagos state, devoid of the glitz and glamour, a student have emerged the Miss Virg inity 2017.

Miss Virg inity Nigeria
16-year-old Dolapo Makunjuola, a student, has been crowned the “Queen of the Vir gins” at the 2017 Miss Virg inity beauty pageant as she emerged winner out of 35 contestants in an event held in Lagos on Saturday
Miss Makunjuola, who thanked the organisers and her “fellow vir gins” after she was crowned, said;

“I am very excited to be the winner of this event. I intend being a vir gin until I am ripe for marriage and I don’t want to dent my image and that of my parents.”
According to Premium Times, it was a drab event inside the headquarters of Surulere local government devoid of the glitz and glamour usually associated with beauty pageants, as each of the contestants only answered questions mostly on current affairs fielded by a master of ceremony.
However, no prize was announced for the winner of the pageant.
Speaking to a correspondent, Adunni Adediran, the organiser, said the contest was an avenue to propagate the importance of women keeping their virg inity till their wedding night, adding that this year’s event was a deviation from the past, beginning from 2007 when the pageant was founded.
A gynaecologist was always brought to confirm the virg inity of prospective contestants beforehand.
Ms. Adediran said she was “called to order” by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, forcing her to stop the practice.
“We used to have a gynecologist who examines the girls before the event, but the ministry of education invited me and told me they disliked the attitude of a man looking at the girls privacy and I was depressed that day,” Ms. Adediran said.

“But was it not better for one man, a federal gynaecologist in a twinkle of an eye, to check if they were virgins or not, than the girls selling themselves from one bed to another bed? I have stopped examining the girls because they asked me to stop.”
On how the girls were verified and ascertained vir gins, Ms. Adediran said she merely reached out to their mothers to talk to them before they participate in the pageant.

“What we now do is like a workshop, a seminar warning them, telling them how important it is to be a virgin before the night of their marriage, while the winner here will be decided based on the questions that will be asked them.”
One of the contestants, 40-year-old Veronica Nwokedi said she heard about the pageant for virgins last year through her “brother’s wife’s friend who is also a vir gin.”
“On hearing about this event, I felt so excited because this has been my dream, to be among the vir gins, because many people say that there are no virgins anymore,” she said.

“So seeing a lot of young girls here who are vir gins really gives me joy. I was tested severally when I felt sick in Benin and even the doctors felt shocked on finding out that I was a virgin.”
Miss Nwokedi encouraged younger ladies to cherish their virg inity because it brings forth God’s blessings.

“It is not really easy to be a virg in, but it is a good thing,” she said.
“Your husband will love and trust you so much without having any iota of doubt in his wife. Even when the lady is seen in the midst of men, the husband will feel relaxed and confident, knowing fully well that he was the one that deflowered his wife.”

You Want To Live Long? See Why You Must Stop EDating Smoked Fish, Roasted Corn and Plantain

For Nigerians to defeat non communicable diseases and live long, they must avoid excessive or continuous intake of smoked fish, roasted corn, roasted plantain and other enticing, but unhealthy foods, the Managing Director, Integrated Medical Centre, Dr. Damilola Familoni has said.

She notes that though these were hard to resist delicacies for Nigerians, they were ladened with cancer causing effects and other disease risk factors which manifests much later in life, stressing that one of the surest prevention methods against cancer, diabetes, hypertension and obesity was adopting a healthy lifestyle which includes healthy living.

Speaking at the celebration of AVON Health Management Organisation at Three, and the launch of its online service in Lagos, she said Nigerians must be educated on what types of foods to be avoided or eaten, as education was key to tackling the rising health indices in the country. “For instance, anyone with Blood type O has no reason eating plantain at all,” she adds.

According to her, “disease burden was becoming prominent in Nigeria, hence it was best to adopt healthcare provision that would make them spend less while getting adequate and appropriate diagnosis, treatment and management of their various health issues.

“All these can’t be addressed by out-of-pocket health provision as majority of Nigerians are living below the poverty line and are unable to afford healthcare. But with health insurance, it is easier to maximally take advantage of healthcare provision. Organisations, governments and individuals should adopt this model if we must reduce incidence of health issues in the country,” Familoni added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer, AVON HMO, Mrs. Adesimbo Ukiri said with the launch of the online service, Nigerians can now buy and enroll to health plans from the organisation’s website via their mobile phones, laptops and tablets.

She said: “When we started three years ago, our belief was that Nigerians from all walks of life should be able to access good quality healthcare services when they need it, without financial constraint leading to unnecessary complications and fatalities.

“With our health plans starting as low as N15,000 per year, we have indeed brought quality healthcare services to the average Nigerian. Subscription to an Avon HMO plan means that whenever a covered ill health or accident occurs, the state of one’s finances won’t matter as Avon HMO oversees the healthcare service delivery and foots the bill. By giving people the ability to buy and subscribe online via mobile phones and other devices, we are bringing convenient and affordable healthcare services to everyone.”

She sad with the innovation, the current three to four per cent of Nigerians using health insurance will increase.

A Nigerian doctor, Ogoo Ekete has been hailed after helping a pregnant woman in labour deliver her baby while traveling to the village in Enugu state.

According to Seun Oloketuyi, the delivery was done in a tricycle a.k.a ‘Keke Napep’ with the aid of a torchlight from a mobile phone.

Read the full details as shared by Seun Oloketuyi

Ogoo Ekete is a young Medical Doctor. But that’s not all. She is also wife to my colleague, Fred, an Engineer in our Networks Department. Still that’s not all. On New Year Day, God used Dr. Ogoo to accomplish a feat, which led to the birth of a potential leader of tomorrow and saved the life of his mother. Now, that’s just it, but then there’s a story behind the story. Come with me…

Traveling in the village with her hubby and children, to visit her sister, their car was flagged down by a desperate and anxious young man, whose wife was in labor at the LGA health centre (Iji Nike Cottage Hospital, Near Enugu East Development Centre Nkwo Nike) without any staff at work. Jesus!

In less than 5 minutes, Dr. Ogoo, a kind and blessed daughter of Zion, set up a mobile hospital in the “keke” that brought in the woman, and went into active delivery mode. Chai!

Fred’s sister-in-law, whom they were going to visit and whose house was right opposite the Health Centre, played the midwife and used the torchlight in Fred’s mobile phone to provide the needed illumination.

To the glory of almighty God, at 6:30 pm 1/1/16, she very meticulously and successfully delivered the woman of a bouncing baby boy. Praise the Lord somebody!

Let us thank God for the life of the baby and her mother. Only God knows what their fate would have been, had Dr. Ogoo hadn’t happened around at the time, and wasn’t spirit-led to render a selfless service according her Hippocratic Oath.

Please join me to celebrate this wonderful woman, this blessed medical doctor, this humanitarian, this instrument of God, Dr. Ogoo Ekete. She will rise and rise and rise to the top of her chosen career, in Jesus’ name! She will find favor from men and women and, more importantly, from almighty God.

Immense thanks to Fred, a great chap and bloody good Engineer, the husband, who didn’t first start thinking of possible deleterious consequences and, therefore, encouraged and supported his wife to do the great deed

Why Eating Catfish is Very Dangerous for Your Health – Medical Expert Makes Revelations

Why Eating Catfish is Very Dangerous for Your Health – Medical Expert Makes Revelations

A practitioner at the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja, has warned the general public of the life-threatening repercussions of excessive consumption of catfish.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, a medical practitioner, Dr Arikawe Adeolu, revealed that excessive consumption of catfish could increase the chances of developing cardiovascular diseases.
According to Vanguard, the practitioner at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja, who gave the warning, said that catfish contained omega-6 fatty acids, which could increase the level of inflammation in the body.
He added that inflammation was the underlying cause of cardiovascular diseases, certain cancers and diabetes. He said that although catfish also contained omega-3 fatty acids, which had a lot of health benefits, the ratio of omega-6 was far greater than omega-3 fatty acids.
While explaining further, Adeolu said that this made it necessary for the fish to be consumed in moderation to prevent health complications. “Catfish is rich in two fatty acids – omega-3 fatty acids and the omega-6 fatty acids.
“The omega-3 fatty acids help reduce the concentration of bad cholesterol in the blood stream and increase the concentration of good cholesterol in the blood stream.

“It also helps protect the heart and the cardiovascular system from any form of disease, prevents inflammation within the body and helps reduce the quantity or concentration of inflammatory substances in the body.

“The underlining basis for most cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer disease and many other diseases that we know today, is chronic inflammation, which signifies a long standing inflammation in the body.

“This is where the catfish controversy comes in. A lot of reports have advised against eating it and this is because although it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which have many health benefits, it contains more omega-6 fatty acids.

“Omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory in the sense that they increase the level of inflammation within the body and make one more predisposed to any kind of disease.

“When catfish features a lot in your diet, you consume more omega-6 fatty acids in your diet than the protective omega-3 fatty acids.

“Therefore, you are more predisposed to diseases if you consume a lot of catfish. The optimal ratio of omega-6 fatty acids to omega-3 fatty acids is supposed to be four to one, but because the catfish is reared artificially and is fed with synthesized food, the ratio can be up to ten to one,’’ he said.
Adeolu also said even though there were a lot of controversies surrounding the consumption of catfish, it still held some advantages over most fishes consumed today, adding that catfish was a good source of protein, rich in essential amino acids needed to build muscles, bones and different tissues in the body.
He explained that catfish contained a moderate amount of calories per serving or per gram, hence, was an ideal choice for those watching their body weight.
According to him, catfish is rich in phosphorus and magnesium, which are essential micro-nutrients that play a significant role in a lot of biochemical processes in the body.
“Catfish has a very low amount of mercury, which is very toxic to the human body and can, when consumed in large quantities, damage the nervous system,“ Adeolu said.

You Need To See This Pictures : Scissors Pulled From Man’s Stomach 18 Years After Surgery

A patient had one of the medical surgery tools forgotten in his body system for years after undergoing treatment.

The scissors in question
A man has had scissors removed from his abdomen which were left behind during surgery 18 years ago, after reporting a stomach ache that was nearly two decades in the making.
Ma Van Nhat, 54-year old Vietnamese, underwent surgery in 1998 after a car accident and only recently discovered that doctors had left an unwelcome gift behind when they closed him up.
Doctors discovered the 15-centimetre (six-inch) scissors near his colon after a recent ultrasound.
He had a three-hour operation at the weekend to remove the scissors, according to Ngo Trung Thang, deputy head of general affairs at Gang Thep Thai Nguyen hospital, 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Hanoi.
“He is recovering well,” Thang told a reporter on Tuesday.
Nhat had spent nearly two decades “eating, drinking and having a pretty normal life”, according to Suc Khoe va Doi Song news site, the official mouthpiece of Vietnam’s health ministry.
The ultrasound that discovered the scissors only came about after Nhat reported stomach pains.
Officials said they were searching for the doctors who performed surgery in Bac Kan province in 1998, but have not yet tracked down any culprits.
